Cyclone Yasi in the Centre...

We just caught the tail of Cyclone Yasi at Yulara last week..

The winds were up to 110 km p/hour. Not much rain but a LOT of humidity - and it is still damn hot. The local talk is that 2011 may bring a long cold winter --- but when ??

No sign of it yet. Here is what the Centre looked like this week.

Big Rain coming...

In the wake of Cyclone Yasi, Alice Springs is supposed to receive up to 300ml of rainfall...

This will mean the Todd River may flood and all the outer lying water-ways will be flowing also.

It would be a spectacular sight to see all this water flowing of the Rock would it not !

Merry Christmas from the Red Centre of Australia...

Christmas in the Red Centre sure is different! The weather is absolutely perfect - still a lot of wildlife wandering around (lots to eat, thanks to good rains this year) & the herbage is abundant.

I am out on tour tomorrow for 4 days, spending Christmas Day at iconic Uluru - should be a hoot!

Christmas Greetings to all and sundry...see you back here in 2011.

Crocodile Traps...

No more swimming in Territory billabongs-do so at your own risk.

These large traps are placed along the banks of waterways to trap any huge "Salties" that may be lurking nearby.

And believe me folks, these traps are huge. Although they may look flimsy, they do the job quite nicely!
